Record on-screen video and conduct usability test easily

With the new update of FileSquare iOS app, you can now conduct usability test for your prototype. The app will record how users interact with your prototype as videos, so you can review them later from the web app. And here is how it works:

1. Invite testing user by email

If you are the owner of one project, you’ll see a new button called “Usability test” at the upper right corner. You can invite users to test your prototype by emails.
invite
All testing users invited will be listed. You can check if they have recorded any sessions under “Recorded Sessions”.

2. Emails for the testing users.

email1
They will receive an email and the email will direct them to the project or app store to download the app if they haven’t done so already. Simple and clear.

3. Test usability on iPhone

record
Users can interact with the clickable mockups like using a real app, and FileSquare mobile app will record the process as a video.

Check the video from website

You can review all the videos by clicking “View all recorded sessions” on usability test tab.

This feature is ideal for conducting usability test before the app actually got built and learning how clients interact with the app prototype. You will improve your app design by understanding your interactive mockups better.

The Delight.io integration

The on-screen recording feature is powered by delight.io. It gives developers and designers insights on how users interact with their apps and helps to improve the user experience and avoid confusing controls.

Try it out

You can login and start exploring the new feature by yourself! If you don’t have an account yet, sign up or try our demo project. And don’t forget to let us know how you like the feature on our forum!

How to manage projects with FileSquare?

FileSquare helps you to create interactive mockups and collect feedback on designs. Features are simple but it helps manage design projects a lot, and here are how we use it at Oursky:

Discuss project without interrupting others

1We can leave message to communicate at any time, so that we don’t have to schedule a meeting or interrupt others’ work.

As shown above, I use annotation, so everyone understands which area I am referring to.

Keep an eye on updates of project

When I have more than one project ongoing at the same time, I rely on email notifications to keep me in the loop.

2

I can keep track of my projects everywhere, because I take email inbox everywhere with mobile phone or tablet. It’s the key of being involved.

Connects designers and developers

In our team, FileSquare is a place connecting designers and developers. Designers can leave notes about color, size of text and so on, so it’s easy for developers to code the designs.

Show a previous project as sample to clients

A sample is worth 1000 words. If you worked on a similar project before, you can show either the flow or style to your clients, and let them get your idea quickly.

5

All the projects are here in FileSquare and sorted by time. I can quickly find the project I am working on currently, and with the thumbnails and titles, it’s also easy to find a project I used to work on before.

Enliven your design and present it to clients

Besides graphic design, we do a lot of interactive designs for web or mobile app. For instance, you can check our demo project VegMap, a mobile app for finding vegan restaurants. We’ve linked up the pages, you may enter the full screen mode and play around with the prototype.

Time to try it yourself
